Dobsonian

A large-aperture Newtonian reflector on a simple azimuth-elevation mount.

Popularized by John Dobson in the 1970s to make big apertures affordable. A 10-inch Dob offers more light-gathering than a 5-inch refractor at a fraction of the cost, at the price of no computerized tracking.
